Dometent Ranger tested on mountain Kilimanjaro

Climbing Kilimanjaro 2010:

In 2008 there was the great idea of a few people to climb the highest mountain of Africa, the Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. They we’re looking for more enthusiastic people to climb the mountain. After they collect a group of 16 persons they started to climb the Kilimanjaro in January 2010.

There are a few routes to the top of the Kilimanjaro, but those 16 people took the Machame Route, also known as the ‘’wiskey-route’’. It was not the easiest route, but also not the toughest route. It was for everybody a big and special challenge!

A report of the climb:
Because of the rain and the steepness it was a very tough walk. During the route we saw primates and nice beautiful coloured birds. During the other days we did not see any animals anymore.

After registration we went to the muddy camping ground where our carrier put our tents up before we arrived. After that we received a matched meal. Before we went to sleep we have watched the clear starry sky, it was beautiful.

Height where we started: 1817 m
Height where we ended: 3030 m

Reaction from one of the users received by e-mail:
''It is not really a family holiday because the route is very tough. Down below some pictures of our group and the tents. These tents are heavy
( 7 kg ) but from good quality and that is where it is about during this route. Lighter tents are most of the time broken after a few days and that is not the case with these tents. The situation is very extreme at the last camp.''
